The Designer will be part of a dynamic, creative team of book and magazine designers who specialize in creating illustrated books and magazines for enthusiasts in our Firearms and Outdoor Communities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
§ Lead the design of 1-3 Magazine titles with frequency ranging from weekly, biweekly and monthly deadlines that:
§ are well-designed, creative, appealing and current
§ meet marketing and editorial goals and objectives
§ are on time and efficiently executed and produced within budget
§ meet quality standards and productivity goals
Concept and execute book covers and interiors for 4-6 books per year on various subjects that:
are well-designed, creative, appealing and current
meet marketing and editorial goals and objectives
are on time and efficiently executed and produced within budget
meet quality standards and productivity goals
Work closely with editorial team members to make sure books meet the above goals and maintain the overall design and brand of their respective.
Work closely with the Production Department to make sure books and magazines are produced efficiently and with high quality standards in a timely manner. Deliver files correctly prepared for separation and printing.
Create ePub files for eBooks and digital shorts keeping with the design of the source book. This includes following best practices for creating the files and working with the QA team to make sure the final product is corret and works on various eReader platforms (like an iPad, Kindle or Nook).
Create ancillary products for various imprints, that include but not limited to, eBooks, PDFs, DVDs and kits.
Illustration/image research, finding and choosing images, cleaning them up, placing them in the file.
